Drive time musing :

If designing a screen to improve wetting, probably opt for uniform water volume per cake surface area unit... and then a different screen for singles, doubles, straight baskets, tapered baskets, etc.

On another hand, Sproline Foam Knife Steam Tip is killa! With my no-burn steam wand on GS/3 it is now effortless to make micro-foam. It takes some work to make good micro-foam with stock tip and especially with small amounts of milk, but this new tip makes it super easy and if you don't pay attention you generate too much micro-foam :D Ah the extremes.

Sproline Foam Knife Steam Tip recommended!

+1 on the Foam Knife steam tip! It took a few tries and a few pints of milk to figure out the technique - which is different from how milk is steamed with a standard tip. But once I got the technique nailed down (at the rudimentary level - I'm sure I can tweak and improve) I am now consistently getting micro-foam superior to any I've ever achieved before. I use only 1% milk in order to reduce fat intake. I've always found it challenging to get stable long lasting foam from lower fat milks. Not the case with the Foam Knife. Count me as mighty impressed with the product.

Bought Foam Knife based on Dennis' recommendation (just in time, sold out now)... Have never made milk like this. Finally figured out technique today and was baffled by quality of microfoam. Sat and admired it for some time.

I just ordered the new GS3 tip this morning, should have it in a few days and will report back here.

The tech I spoke with prior to placing my order told me the Vortex wasn't appropriate for the GS3 and pointed me to the correct tip. Just curious how this GS3 tip would compare with the Foam Knife 1 and 2 in the GS3. Not curious enough to purchase all three. :D

Question: The GS3 tip appears to aim the steam out laterally. Is this correct? I use the toroid steaming pitchers and the milk rolls nicely with steam that is directed out and downward.

Which of the two Foam Knife tips is correct for the GS/3? If both work, what's the difference between the two?
