Well spotted! Yes, we've been taking orders via Amazon for about 10 days.Exordium01 wrote:I see that Amazon listings went live
Our own ordering shop should go live by tomorrow.
When I change my baskets, I never change the grind. Sometimes I'm experimenting downwards with my dose, from 20g and find myself at 17g in a 20g basket. I then switch to an 18g basket and the shot pulls the same (but with less of an air gap, obviously)Exordium01 wrote:I am curious about the portafilter baskets. If you get the set, do you need to change your grind when changing between baskets, or are you changing hole coverage area like VST?

Argh! Brad took a bullet train into China on sunday, to inspect today (monday) the ceramics factory that is making our water tank.
He had a gut feeling there was going to be a problem, and he was right. He brought the DE1 "legs" to check the fit. Shrinkage means the water tank is too small, so the ceramic mould needs be adjusted.
Good thing he showed up! 2nd picture is Emily, who works for us too, but I bet Brad isn't smiling right now!

Our web site is now "live" and we're selling all the coffee accessories (about 20 products). It's what they call "a soft launch".

I just finished getting the web site finished an hour ago, and I'm not announcing yet until tomorrow morning. It's 7:10pm here, I'm off to get a drink!.
If some brave Home Barista souls wouldn't mind banging on the web site a bit, let me know if you find anything broken, that would be a big help. All the shopping cart, tech support, order tracking and fulfilment systems are written-from-scratch by me, so there's plenty of new work now visible, and likely lots of things to improve!
No pre-orders on the espresso machine yet, that'll be in a few weeks.

I just took a quick look at your now transactional website. It is clean, easy to navigate and fun to see a nice video that explain each product you sell. I only found two small things that bug me:
1- In the Barista kit, what size and style of milk jug is included? I see no mention about this. From the picture it look like the competition style but what are the two size included out of the three available? You should mention that in the detail of the Barista kit.
2- In cdn$ the Barista kit is $579 but if i add all the included items separatly the total is $529 or maybe i made a mistake somewhere. Can you check that? The customer should get a discount if he purchase the whole Barista kit i think.
Edit: Also you may want tp change the video presentation of the DE1 as it refer to the old style with the side water tank.
Thanks,
Séb

Good point, I will mention it on the page. It's the 350ml and 600ml jugs, in the "competition spout" style, but we'll swap the spout out for the "classic spout" if you prefer it.Séb wrote:1- In the Barista kit, what size and style of milk jug is included? Whoops, thanks for spotting that! The Barista Kit should have been CDN$470 and it now is.Séb wrote:2- In cdn$ the Barista kit is $579 but if i add all the included items separatly the total is $529 or maybe i made a mistake somewhere. Yep, the videos for our espresso machines will be completely redone in the next few weeks, using real machines rather than renders. We're hoping to be making espresso on the factory prototype for the first time in a few hours here!Séb wrote:Edit: Also you may want tp change the video presentation of the DE1 as it refer to the old style with the side water tank.

SUITCASE FOR OUR ESPRESSO MACHINE
We're finalizing our design for a suitcase to carry our espresso machine around. This will be an optional accessory, for those who like to travel well caffeinated, as well as caterers and other folks that need to move their rig about.
The dimensions of this suitcase are about 11" x 16" x 20" (30cm x 40cm x 50cm) and the espresso machine itself weighs about 27lbs (12kg). Our espresso machine may be small, but it's not so light, as there is a lot packed into it.

Do you think the in-seat AC outlets on a plane would run the machine? I'd be the most popular person in economy class!CoffeeBar wrote:Good for traveling or camping
