Why does the safety valve keep going on my Gaggia Factory?

Postby EdRush on Tue Mar 29, 2011 4:31 pm

I wonder if anyone can help. My Gaggia Factory G106 (virtually the same as the La Pavoni Europiccola) makes a really lovely cuppa, but the valve went in the boiler cap. I bought a new boiler cap and the valve went again within a fortnight. Could I be doing something wrong? Is there perhaps an underlying problem? It had worked perfectly for around a year before. (I bought it second hand but in great condition).
I can't afford to keep buying boiler caps and I'm really missing my espressos.
Any wise words?
Thanks.

Bummer. I had one for several years and it was trouble free. I would occasional put some vinegar in the cap, let it soak and work the plunger with a pencil to open/close the valve. You could try that and see if it self repairs.
