Who ships ponte vecchio?

Postby subq on Sat Dec 10, 2011 1:55 am

I'm kicking around buying a ponte vecchio export or lusso...was looking for active forum vendors but it appears 1st-line doesn't ship the lusso anymore (pickup only)...If I go lusso instead of export, does anyone know any other reputable vendors that will ship (there is nothing local here)?

I don't know anyone who ships the Lusso anymore, which is too bad because it is a fine machine.

I was talking with someone at Vaneli's, who used to carry and ship the machine, and he told me that a couple of years ago almost every machine they shipped one Christmas season was severely damaged in transit.

The boiler is bolted to the bottom of the frame, and it seems like something could be rigged to the stout fill spout at the top of the machine to stabilize the machine during shipping.

something being a stout piece of metal bar stock, and the second anchor point being one of the bolts that secures the group head.

Orphan Espresso had been selling these, with some modifications of their own design, that looked quite nice. I wonder if they still could get you one.

the export or the lusso?

I may be forced into the export (which isn't really a bad thing...I was actually trying to decide between the export and the lusso (or 2 group lusso).

Try the Good Coffee Company in Seattle. They've carried the PV Lusso's forefathers (Sama, Dampa) since the early 70's. Good luck. It's a nice machine.

I actually read a few people have used them on the forum, it doesn't appear they have a website...unless I missed it.
