Where to get a heating element for a Mini Gaggia?

Postby trollklint on Sat Apr 16, 2011 2:46 pm

Hi all! Does anyone know where to get a new heating element (220V) to a Mini Gaggia. My element seems to have a a short circuit, probably in one of the pins...

You might be able to repair a short at the pin.

Hej Emil,

The heating element was fine for me - what are the symptoms? The only problem I ever had was if the contacts near the group got wet - they are open, and if wet will flip the ground breaker.

Hej John :)

The problem arose after I changed the gaskets in the machine .. Probably a leaked on the right pin as you say... the result that there has been a short circuit in the element ... But the machine was in good condition when I bought it from you :) Nice machine by the way !

Some water heater companies still have the still / capacity to make custom heating element coils. They may also be able to repair your's depending on the problem. So, I would recommend to look for a local one. There is a good chance that if they can not help you they will be able to point you in the direction of someone who can help you.

A cheap fix is one of these:

Since it's an open boiler it can be inserted through the top.

Still seems prudent to check it all out with an ohm meter, dry it out, and see if the short can be cured. The ends can be resealed. A short caused by water in the circuit behaves in a very specific way. Put your ohm meter probes in a glass of water, then on one element terminal and the body of the machine. If the meter behaves the same way there is water in the terminus.
