Wow, beautiful machines, especially the Disco Volante. I really like the mechanics of the disco with the moving group.
The machine right in the beginning, is this an old roaster that just sits on a gas stove?

Cheers,

Yeah, I was just trying to qi fu you. I'd like to make a trip up there this winter to see James' Pharos if he doesn't mind, so maybe we can meet up then.

I'll let leicaism answer that question, but look at the new hand-crank stove-top roaster from Japan sitting in the background of that same shot.

Roland:
Zassenhaus Brilliant is really good , easy to turn, lovely shape and outstanding performance. I believe it can perform as good as Titan grinders. Dienes also made a lot of cool hand grinders, you can get them easily at ebay.de. I had made some rough comparisons between Dienes and Robur. I prefer Dienes.

Hi, Roland

You are right, it is an old hand roaster. But, I use mini500 as my routine roaster..

Thanks for the quick reply on the Zassenhaus. I'll keep looking for one at a good price, the Brilliants always sells for quite high prices on ebay.de

+1 for the Dienes - I have a Dienes Mokka 88 which is just great. I couldn't compare it to a Robur, but it sure beat a Pavoni Jolly Dosato. And the Dienes are cheaper than the Zassenhaus in ebay, even though they are definitely no worse.

End of OT...

Hey Guys and Gals, here is a quick video of my 'new' cimbali m20 lever. The panels are still off but she pulls some amazing shots.

I am using about a 20g dose of 'Aggressive Chocolate' espresso blend from Colombo, it's a local roastery in Durban. The spring starts with about 10.5 bar and finishes off at about 5 bar. enjoy

Looks great! I really like the look of your Major.
Do you have difficulties with heat loss because of the exposed grouphead and boilerneck? I remember Doug from OE writing a while ago about temperature issues with a Conti that lacked the group cover.

Yep, I still love the color of your Major. It would look good next to a gray Caravel.

Hey DoubleOSoul and Bluecold, I only saw your messages now.

The Cimbali performs fine without the group cover, I haven't tasted shots that seemed like they were brewed too cold. I will get a scace sometime and run some tests.

I am absolutely loving the machine, I have always wanted a single group lever so right now I am quite content:)

rotchitos, I will watch your video when I get near a faster Internet connection.
