Sama club with a twist

Postby Bluecold on Thu May 28, 2009 6:35 pm

I came across this auction on ebay and was thoroughly confused.
According to the seller:
Ebay seller 'florance59' wrote:

It looks like nothing i've ever seen. It's got the club design but with a steamgroup! I don't get it, because if you'd want steam type espresso with a Sama club, all you'd have to do is hold down the lever!

Or maybe this thing is from 1930 and Sama really was the first with a club type body.

that looks like the mother of a lot of machines.

Indeed- I think you may be onto something- but not the 30's- maybe the early 1950's?

The fittings have that fifties look- very chunky- the case is the classic shape- yet has those bevels on the sides edges- more ornate and reeks of the 50's.

Is it definitely steam powered only, the group? Could there be a pump inside the machine?

And that machine has the red light I want for mine- massive and intimidating. I wish I had seen this machine before the auction ended- I would have bid for sure.

I don't think there is a pump inside the machine. Vibe pumps weren't available until the 70's and it has a boiler fill knob, not a reservoir.
And i could have made the topic before the auction ended, but last time someone did that, people were unhappy.
I could also have mentioned the Faema Urania that went for 500E and for the Gaggia Gilda mk2 for 99E. But i didn't. .
