Sama Club restoration- help and advice sought - Page 5

This is a great machine- but the steam nozzle is near terrible. It is just like the water nozzle- one huge hole- It blasts the milk right out of the jug- and you can only get really small jugs under there. There is plenty of power but no control.

This week, I have had the good fortune to be trying out a new Ponte Vecchio machine and the steam nozzle is infinitely better. So to finish of my Sama I am going to need to source a new frothing wand. I have seen an image of a Sama here somewhere where it is fitted with a wand that curls around and up and then back down again. That would be ideal so I could keep the steam toggle- which I really like.

I will post pictures of the completed sama soon- I have insulated the boiler, replaced the piston seals and had the cabinet resprayed. I managed to get a new element so I am going to install it- then I will post the images. Looks super.

Yes- that is the one.

I would kill for one of them.

thought the nozzle looks identical to mine- which is a single hole- and way too big. Now I am thinking of putting a wand from a Zaffiro or similar on there. The frothing wand is the only thing holding my Sama back from it's full potential. The boiler is now insulated, the case resprayed, new seals installed, new element ready to go in...

You might take a look at Bezzera Steam and Water Nozzle Modification, where mogogear did a similar thing.

thanks for that link- that's exactly it. However he had the curved steam tubes to start with :-( that mod allowed the original taps to be kept.
I want to keep my taps- as I like the design and look- but unless I can find a tube that curves up after it emerges from the hole I am thinking I will need replace the taps and tubes. I wonder if Ponte Vecchio picked up any old SAMA stock when they took over?

perhaps I will contact them...
