Random Pictures of Bottomless Pull

Postby F.M. on Tue Jan 19, 2010 1:38 am

Anybody who's tried to take pictures of a bottomless pull on a lever machine knows it's pretty difficult to get decent photos and decent espresso! :?

Anyways here are some pix from my most recent attempt... sorry about the poor focus & lighting!

It's a lot easier if you ask someone for help ;-) looks like a tasty extraction.

or... use your camera's timer function with a tripod. If you don't have a tripod you can use gorilla photography techniques and use the side of a kleenex box or a stack of books. Food for thought since no one is willing to help me. LOL!

Really nice looking pull. The latte art is nice, too!

Thanks guys. On the photo quality, a big issue I keep hitting is the dim light and dark paint colors in my kitchen. This requires use of the flash, which reflects off the chrome and also limits my camera's multi-shot ability as the flash has to re-charge between shots. But... I will see if I can enlist some help one of these days :)

I have to add.... the shot quality of the lever machine has me drinking shorter and shorter drinks! Latte art is becoming less of a priority now that I prefer ristretto machiattos.

a bean bag full of rice works well. i guess it would be a rice bag not a bean bag. you can mold it to hold the camera in place.

You can also use longer exposures with a selftimer and a beanbag, so flash won't be necessary.
