Putting a lever in storage

Postby espressotime on Sat Apr 02, 2011 10:00 am

Since i'm getting a new machine soon I want to keep the Ponte Export as a back up machine .
Is there anything to look for when putting it in a box on a shelve.
I recently installed new seals.Any chance of these getting dried out if not used for a substantial amount of time?

If it wasn't hard to do I might open it and lube the piston and seals.

You could send it to me to baby sit and then you don't have to worry about it :D

Yes, the seals will dry out when in storage. If you use it once a week this could be avoided. Maybe dow 111 would help, but no experience. Possibly a vegetable based oil on the seals?

I'll be interested to hear if any other machine makes better espresso than the Export.
