Problem with my new Elektra Microcasa a Leva

Postby bigstormgirl on Sun Dec 11, 2011 11:24 pm

I bought this MCAL new about 6 weeks ago, and now the water is not coming out with the same force as before. I thought my grind was too fine, even using the same setting as before when I was getting 30 second shots. Now my shots are taking around two minutes. When I flush the group, it's not coming out the same. It dribbles on one side, and some force on the other side (used to come out with a strong force). I checked the shower screen and it was clean. Pressure is fine, and steaming is good, so I'm baffled what could be going on. Could there be something clogging the siphon tube? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Like to be able to fix this myself before I call 1st line.

Thanks

Well, I solved the problem. The issue wasn't the amount of water coming out, but the piston seals needed lubing. When I took apart the group to check the inlet tube, I decided to lube the seals while I had everything apart. Since the inlet was clear, I put everything back and pulled a shot. Bingo. Got my 25-30 second shot. The seals must of been dry and causing the lever to go up too slowly.

Morale of the story: Keep those seals lubed! :)
