Posting to the LMWDP Rollcall is all it takes, but to save you the time, I went ahead and enrolled you: LMWDP #175. :)

I'm thinking of getting one of these but with two bases, a 49 for my La Pav Europiccola and a 58 for my Oscar. But I can't seem to figure out how to price it for just one handle with two bases .... help...

Thanks for thinking of HB! You would order one complete LMWDP tamper and a second piston here. If you want the mini HB logo on the second piston, mention it in the comments field and send a note to davew (OlywaDave) at espressoparts.com.

After reading through the tamper roadshow I think I need to somehow try one of these tampers out. Seems like tamper handle height and feel can be a personal thing which is pretty hard to judge electronically.

I've only used 2 tampers - a plastic tamper/spoon that I used for my Estro Vapore (now donated to bro), and the plastic two ended job that came with my Oscar. I found the plastic tamper/spoon easier to use since it fit the Estro Vapore perfectly! The double ended plastic Oscar tamper is usable but I know it is too small. I have to tamp around the basket multiple times. Now I know that a tamper base has to be sized right but in terms of handle I have no feel for what is right or good.

Where in the SoCal (preferably Orange County) area can I try a compressore, Reg Barber or a Barismo tamper out at? Or is the roadshow package still available to try out? I'll need to use it for my La Pav europiccola (49, at least once I get my Elektra basket to fit in the grouphead!) and my NS Oscar (58 mm)

Great Infusions in Santa Cruz is the only showroom I know of in your region, but of the three tampers, they only stock the Reg Barber (the Compressore is an EPNW original and the Barismo is a hybrid of the Espressocraft tamper). The Roadshow kit was retired long ago; I don't know where it ended up and its planned stop by my place never materialized. :?

Only problem is that it's a 6 hour drive, at least according to google maps :D
That would defeat the reason for trying one out as the gas expense would outweigh the expense of the tamper itself!

Maybe one of these days when I get up in that area.

Sorry, I figured it wouldn't be exactly nearby.

If you want a "safe" choice, go with the Reg Barber. The Barismo / Espressocraft shape is less conventional, but would be my top pick for comfort, build, and style. The Compressore has a big bulb, so those who want a beefy grip will naturally gravitate towards it. There are no losers among the choices.

Hi Dan / Dave,
I know this thread is a little old, but are these "customized" LMWDP tampers still available?? Possibly looking for 1 Handle and 2 pistons (45mm and a 49mm)
Thanks
Anthony
