Yes, it's still on. Dave at EPNW is confirming the availability of "blank" tampers that can be engraved. I hope to have more details soon.

Hey me too! Can they offer 10ths of a mm. If not I am in for the 49mm... but if they can do 10ths I would like the 49.4mm...

Absolutely! Good plan; in optimism for the outcome of Richard's genius --and, of course, his time-- re Cremina portafilters. Um, sorry, wrong thread for that ongoing subject.

I'm very interested as well.

Let's see, 51mm for the Gaggia Factory. Will that be possible?

Did I miss the pricing? How much?

EPNW sells all piston sizes for their designs and you can special order precise sizes from Reg Barber (e.g., 49.4mm). Dave mentioned a price of the personalized engraving and it was very reasonable; I'll defer to him for the exact prices. The regular logo HB tampers sell for the same price as the unadorned ones, i.e., the additional fee is for Dave's setup time.

Two questions:
1) I was not clear on this answer. If Reg Barber makes the tamper base then the EPNW piston and handle with the HB logo will fit?
2) Reg Barber makes their bases in a variety of metals Brass, Copper, Stanless steel... Can these be offered by EPNW in the various metals or just the one? I have owned all of them and enjoyed the Copper and Brass however the sizes were for a 58mm and 51mm and were sold with the corresponding machines :? .

1) So could the order to EPNW be for just the HB logo engraved handle to fit a custom turned Reg Barber base?

Sorry for the confusion I must be hazy this morning... Need another double. Thanks, TUS172

Sorry about the delay in info guys but I think I have most of the answers now. I might have to get the products up Monday but I have answers now.

1) The extra fee for LMWDP personalization. $10 is what we figured would be fair, I will have the artwork done laser set up and this is kind of a special scenario we will dismiss any set up fees for graphics. FYI: General customization and personalization will be $20.

2) Just handles... Cool with me.

3) Custom sizes. We can mill our pistons to 49.4mm or whatever you need for whatever the normal custom size price would be. I don't know about Reg tamper pistons yet. We generally carry the commercial size pistons from Reg but I think if we set up an custom piston order time period we can accommodate custom Reg sizes like that.

4) Reg Handles. I guess the piston situation is all provided we can get unmarked handles from Reg, I don't see it being a problem after all he is a good guy and a creative one to boot. I'm sure he'd appreciate this project.

5) EP handles. From my understanding speaking with Dan we will limit the selection to Black handles, maybe Red and for sure any wood handles. Am I right Dan?

6) HB logo on the pistons... I like this detail and will offer it at no additional cost. However if it is something you don't want that is your option. Mind you it would be a rare opportunity to get one with an HB logo.

That about does it for me. I would totally set this up now but the variables are fairly vast and I have a few magazine ads with closing deadlines to contemplate before I skate out at Noon for our company camping retreat.

I welcome any feedback and ideas and I imagine I'll post a sample pic Monday or Tuesday as well. If you happen to read this soon I'll be checking in here and there to answer concerns before leaving today too.

Thanks for the support guys, this is Dan's masterminded idea for you all and I appreciate the fact he thought of us to help him follow it through.

EDIT:
PS. Turn around time on these tamps should be less than a week. I'll wait to a few days in between engraving sessions to get a handful of handles to do all at once.

A portion of an email from Dan...
"So could the order to EPNW be for just the HB logo engraved handle to fit a custom turned Reg Barber base?"

It's not clear from your site, but I gather you only sell the RB 58mm base... (?).

Handles alone I'll have to check on. I don't see any issues however.

I'm not sure but I think we could put in a special piston order to Reg for the folks who need custom sizes or sizes we don't regularly stock. We can create a cut off order date for these or something if that is acceptable.
