Pavoni Europiccola grouphead cleaning/seal replacement - cannot move piston lever fixing pin

Postby oliverkuehberger on Sun Mar 13, 2011 7:56 am

Hi all -

So I am trying to replace gasket seals, as my group head is leaking. I found some instruction here and on youtube. However I am stuck:

My grouphead is removed, group head screen is out but the first (lower) lever pin won't budge. not a little. I suspect as the group was leaking for a while it is stuck in place, but any bright ideas how do I get to move it?

I tried with a hammer already or am I doing something fundamentally wrong.

To be clear, it is the front pin (closest to me when I facing my Pavoni) that won't move.

Thanks for any help.

Ollie

Since you have pulled the grouphead and are commited to rebuilding it at this point. Get some type of penetrating lubricant and spray the pin and shaft. If you have pulled the C clips there may be enough of the pin to twist with pliers to help loosen it (I would let the lubricant first work for some time before attempting again). At this point you are looking at replacing the pins at the very least anyway.
Below is a link that may be helpful with the rebuild.

I'd second that. Soak the pins in penetrating lubricant and leave overnight. Don't force things...

Thanks for your advice. What lubricant to use?

Any good hardware store can direct you. In the past I have use PB Blaster... Or from Kano Labs, Kroil.
Both work very well and willl do the job for you.
