Olympia Cremina rebuild - Page 2

Postby robert mayrand on Wed Feb 17, 2010 8:40 pm

The on/off switch now on the machine is the new Olympia Cremina switch from the factory, since the square one is not available anymore. It doesn't matter what you order from them this is the switch you'll get.

I think my Cremina was waiting to get an homage like this before giving me semi-god shot. Just after writing this I pulled a double, about 14g of black cat, light tamp, the pull was smooth with a constant pressure. The crema flowed in beautiful stripe of burgundy, chocolate and dark cream. The shot was velvety smooth and delicious with a long rich aftertaste. Certainly the best espresso I had this year, all 1.7oz of it.

Semi-god is just a way to leave place to improvement!!!!!

Excellent outcome Rob! Congratulations! No wonder you had so many questions  Looks great and from the sound of it, works great as well.

Beautiful work, Rob -- you really earned that Cremina! Long may the espresso flow!

Really enjoyed reading your rebuild post. Bringing a machine back to life makes it a special machine. It also gives you a great story when you pull shots for friends!

Great rebuild!

Really nice!

Question about the switch you got from the factory. Just curious in case mine ever goes out.

Did you have to make some sort of adapter to get the switch to fit the hole?

Or is it a "drop in" replacement?

The switch is a drop in replacement, no adjustments needed. It is of course for the square hole switch, if you have the older rectangular hole with the witch and the pilot light on the same plate it won't fit.

I've got the square hole - Mine's an 87 model.

Thanks for the response, I knew that some models were unobtainium, but wasn't sure which.
