Olympia Cremina lever pin design

Postby PavoniMaster on Fri Nov 18, 2011 2:51 pm

What model year did the Cremina lever pins change back to a circle clip design?
I really like the look of the 2002 model with the bolts holding the lever pins in place as opposed to the circle clips. I thought that the bolts were a really solid design. I understand that there is no sideways play in the lever with either method, I just prefer the clean design look of the bolts.

I believe that there was a update with the 2008 model, can any one confirm if this is when the change was made or was it with the new 2011 model?

I agree that the bolt design looked better -- & easier to work with than cirClips. I'm pretty certain the change back was with the new 2011 which otherwise seems to be a better design.

Would be nice to source pins with bolts for replacement. It woul ease the maintenance...

Looking at the photos on the Cremina Olympia website today, they look to be the same photos from early 2009 when I was looking to buy a Maximatic & Moca. I guess they probably made the change back to clips with the 2008 model and I believe that is when the multi piece piston from the 2002 model was reverted back to the single piece?

Some one had posted about sending the 2002-2007 grouphead design, back to Olympia to be ground out or modified to work with the latest post 2008 piston design and I think that Olympia no longer has the seals for the 2002-2007 piston design, Can any one confirm this?
