Hi all- new to this forum!

I have a perplexing leak on my Pavoni 'Professional" lever machine. The machine heats up fine, goes to pressure, makes just a great cup o' joe, but after the machine has cooled down I find a puddle of cold water leaking from the base.
Does anyone have an idea what this might be before I start to blindly tear the unit apart?

Hard to say. Pretty clearly you have some sort of leak from the lower half. My suggestion would be to remove the plastic cover on the base and then fire the thing up while watching the underside. It'll be somewhat of a pain to balance the thing while this goes on but it's only 8ish minutes and you need to find out what's going on anyways.

Unfortunately there are several things it could be (boiler to base gaskets, pressurestat tubing at various points) so I think you're just going to have to take a look.

What makes it odd is that the leak only appears after the machine has cooled off to cold, and then there is 1/2 cup of cold water laying around the base.
I'll give your advice a try.

Well, yes, it's odd, but it doesn't tell us anything about the problem. As I said, fire it up w/o the black plastic base. I suspect something is leaking under pressure until a change in temp causes it to seal up.

Same here.
Some mornings the bench is awash, sometimes it's just a drop.
i think it's the seal where the thermostat wire goes in the bottom of the boiler. I've had my machine two years now, and i think it's time to change the seals (which is why i'm visiting home-barista.com)... i'll have a very close look at it then.
