I think the stainless pins are more likely to cause wear to the brass group. Or perhaps they do not contact the group because they are enclosed in brass roller bushings?

Rear pin will be riding on a needle bearing as soon as the bearing gets here (I am thinking Monday). Front one will not be an issue when I go naked.

The pull shouldn't be softer with a naked portafilter (like photo below). Pull shouldn't be stronger than 30 lbs. Jack's right, I think.
