Fabulous, thank you Richard. AND THANK YOU for providing these much needed pieces for what are truly orphan machines.

I am waiting for my Italian sourced Caravel to arrive and have become even more excited after further reading about them and their capacity for great shots so long as the machine/beans/grind/tamp is sorted.

Happy Holidays to you and all the H-B crowd.

You'll be surprised how good the espresso can be when you pair the hand grinder with the Saeco. I used that combo for years. The Saeco will be a useful no-cost steamer, and a good compliment to the Caravel.

Right now I have my Caravel sitting next to my wife's Francis Francis, and I enjoy the variety.

Hi Henry,
Glad to see I'm not the only one. I've been using mine for the last 3 weeks and am starting to get quite good results. It's been pretty humbling and the shots themselves take on a different texture to the stock Caravel PF. The naked seems to require a much finer grind. I'll probably get shot for saying it but I often think the stock PF works a little bit like a pressurized PF and is actually a bit more forgiving. I'm really enjoying the Penney one now that I'm getting used to it and it really is a beautiful object. Did you go for the brass or stainless?
Sam.
