LMWDP Rollcall - Page 90

Greetings. I'm a n00bie here and the owner and twice a day user of an elderly, somewhat operational hand-me-down La Cara lever machine. I wrench on it periodically but since I'm only good at fixing things in a sort of twiddly sense (faucets, bicycles, pre-1975 cars), I'm afraid it will remain only "somewhat" operational - it spits and sneezes. Despite this, I'm a confirmed lever-lover. It still makes better coffee than most.

Riocruz, that's a beautiful coffee grinder!

I've had a PV Lusso for 1 day now.

In that day, with my meager skills and a relatively boring (but fresh) blend, I've had some of the best coffee of my life.

Hi, there.

I think I should tell my short experience here... In 2004 I started to like coffee. I think it was a good espresso that introduced me into this world. But only last year I started to really enjoy it and study it.

My first machine was a Gaggia Classic. But this year I bought an Elektra a Leva in pristine condition from a coffee shop - the poor machine was abandoned there! I got a nice deal considering how expensive would be to import a new one. At the same time I got 2 NS Oscar to restore, helped a friend to reassemble a 2 groups Linea, and since then I've grow an obsession on machines - maybe more then on coffee...

Some months later, I don't know really why, but most of people here understand me, I've turned my self on a "collector". OK, I won't be a Francesco or Lucio, but I feel I have to try Peppina, Caravel, Pavoni, Zerowatt, Brunella, Mini Gaggia and all this nice and ingenious home levers. We have probably ZERO of this machines in Brazil (except for Pavoni, Elektra and maybe some Microcimbali). At least I've never seen any of the older machines around. Espresso has 10 years here, so neither commercial levers is around, unfortunately... So I hope some day I can give a chance to friends and more people to try this "toys" too.

Will I forget pump machines? No, I'm gonna sell my Classic, but probably will keep an Oscar. Would I spent money on a commercial 1 group machine with a lever or a pump? Well... We'll see.

I'll post some pictures here soon...

Márcio.

I guess I have been lurking and occasionally posting in other threads for long enough.

The current lineup -

1995 Cremina (a strange beast - I will post some pictures at some point.)
PV Lusso - just rebuilt and doing great!
SAMA Export - all ready for reassembly after restoration. Pictures soon.
SAMA Lusso - next in the restoration queue
Fear La Peppina - A FleaBay buy today. Might be a good machine. We will see.

Glad to be joining this great group.

Hi All!

I'm a new guy here, arrived some months ago when decided to have an Arrarex Caravel. Before the lever-fever I was using a Gaggia Classic with Iberital Challenge. That was fine and easy to use, good set to start the business.

After reading a lot of topics, and hunting the ebay I bought my beauty. Nope. I've bought something interesting and only after that my beauty. :)

So, I've started with an old springless Zerowatt. http://picasaweb.google.com/markus.gyula/ZerowattIlyenVoltIlyenLett.

In less than a week the Caravel has arrived too. It was in quite good condition after a heavy cleaning and descaling was ready to use. http://picasaweb.google.com/markus.gyula/ArrarexCaravel#

The Zerowatt went to a friend of mine, GC sold, Iberital upgraded to a Mazzer SJ. Currently I have a Caravel "only". And waiting for new machines to bid on and renew... :)
