After my first "espresso machine", a steam powered Mr. Coffee, I upgraded to a Europiccola, which sees daily use now. I now find that lever espresso just tastes better, in general, than something from a pump machine, to the point that I pick coffee shops based on their machine type.

Welcome, Brandon. I too love the espresso I make with a lever machine. Sadly, I've yet to taste a shot from a lever machine in a commercial establishment that would have me return for more. I do have some ideas for changing that situation (even aside from getting my own machine working commercially) but it would involve some travel. If you have enjoyed espresso from a shop lever, please tell us where.

Dogwood Coffee, in the Twin Cities, though the lever is now gone.

There is an old thread in the lever forum on cafes that have lever machines.

many years ago, I was assigned #744 for my car for a track event. I was told
by the person that assigned numbers (he was Chinese) that 744 was next
available number but it meant, in his words, "instant death". They all laughed
hysterically and looked for the next available number thinking nobody would be that dumb.
Not believing in such ridiculous superstitions, I took 744 just because.
Next time out, blew a motor. Then I went in to request for a number change...
