Hi Steve,

I only have a nice one of the pressostat with a luscious asbestos background. I will make some more pictures (in- and outside, as well a some pics of the other machines).

I really like that pressurestat. Until now I had thought that Sirai was created by God on the sixth day therefore was the sum of all commercial pressurestat options.

I'd like #69, please (or 007, if it's still available?)

Is 71 available?

the levers in my life:

Europiccola in black and chrome - bog standard as we say here, and frankly don't really see the need for any more lusso or timber. OK so she's a little rusty under the drip tray but she was a present from my long suffering partner so she's here to stay. My 3 year old wept when Daddy's coffee machine went to the repairman, so we won't be getting a dog or a rabbit anytime soon. He's a fine tamper already by the way.

new girl in town is still with parcelforce but she's a Cremina of indeterminate age, and it seems almost rude to ask.

Me? about 17 years ago I was drinking upwards of 20 cups of instant a day and then I walked into Monmouth Street Coffee shop in Covent Garden. I walked out a new man with less caffeine in my life but way more flavour. Monmouth Street is still one of my all time favourite places in London to sit and read and drink, but about 5 years ago I moved on to espresso / latte and after burning out 2 cheapo machines with Heike present, she sprang a Pavoni on me for Christmas. The hiss and piss of the last 6 months was sorted by espressoservices in Stirling and we are revelling in some truly fine shots - shots so good that we've both been cutting the milk content back to machiatto levels.

How dark will the cremina take us...

P

72 it is then.

Hi!

I've been lurking for a week or so, and have now decided to claim my LMWDP# and do my bit to take over the world. I'll start the revolution in South Africa!

I am a self proclaimed coffee snob (that is if insisting on good coffee can be viewed as snobbish!?). I have been roasting at home for more than 10 years and started lurking around alt.coffee about the same time. I was quite surprised to learn that a lot of people roast coffee in a popcorn machine! I thought I was being very clever to think of it myself

Reading alt.coffee got me interested in espresso, and I soon realised that I needed a good machine. I started looking around, but all the affordable machines were "steam toys" and anything worthwhile was on the wrong end of a 10:1 exchange rate. Then one fateful day my brother and his wife attended a interior decorating show and came back with a La Pavoni brochure. It was love at first sight! I had to have one of them!

Luckily the company importing them agreed to sell me their showroom Europiccola at a discount, and after a few false starts, I managed to get some very good shots from it. I still haven't discovered a restaurant or cafe that makes a better espresso than what I get at home, and after reading all the hints and tips on this forum, I've improved by leaps and bounds. So I guess the chances of finding a better espresso "out there" are becoming even smaller. Although I must say that in recent years interest in good coffee has increased, and I see new coffee shops opening everywhere, so perhaps there still is hope...

The coffee I use is locally grown. I get it from an agricultural research farm about 500km from where I live at a price that will make most coffee lovers cry themselves to sleep at night ($1.50/kg). It is a bit acidic for espresso, but I guess I've grown used to it by now. Only this week I've discovered a local company that sells green coffee, so I am awaiting my first selection of "exotic" coffees with bated breath! At last I will be able to sample the weird and wonderful coffees that everyone is discussing on these forums.

If there is no objection, I'll lay claim to LMWDP# 74.

Thanks for a wonderful forum.
