Lever Only Home Barista?

Postby narc on Tue Jan 01, 2008 1:02 pm

Happy New Year!

Questions:
1. How many use only a lever machine or plan in this New Year to use only a lever machine as your home espresso
machine?
2. How many different lever espresso machines do you own?
3. What is your machine of choice if you have multiple options?

Mostly levers but I am rebuilding a couple of pumps for catering/travel to parties.

five so far.
3. What is your machine of choice if you have multiple options?

I like simple strong Ristrettos;
How do you ask a Proud Papa which of his kids he like the best?
Cheers and have a good poll!

1. Levers are all I have.
2. dunno. Changes frequently. 4 in my shop currently and another dozen or so floating about the place
3. My home machine is a 1980-ish 3gr carimali. I am thinking of swapping this for one of my 1gr 60's machines for a while (but the convienience of 3gr really grows on you after a few years use)
cheers

1) I plan on using a lever for the next two months. Demolition starts tomorrow morning for our new kitchen and I have the Silvia boxed up and put away.
2) I own two.
3) I'll be using the MCaL. The La Peppina needs to have the seals replaced and I haven't had the time.

1) Once I get a basket that fits, I'll be able to use my Europiccola. Hopefully, I can use it more in 2008 than my Oscar.
2) 2 - One Lever (LP Europiccola), One HX (NS Oscar)
3) Well, since I cant use the piccola, I can't answer this one quite yet since it defaults to the Oscar.

Happy New Year to all!

Happy new year!

1. Are there coffee makers other than lever machines? Why bother?
2. I own two, if you count the Enrico machine that I'm still cleaning.
3. Gaggia Factory is #1 choice. New one is due tomorrow so the present one will go on Craigslist once the new one proves to be non-defective.
There is more to coffee than espresso.

I only use a lever. It's the only thing I'm really comfortable with.

I have 3, a Gaggia Achille, a Gaggia Factory, and a La Pavoni Professional. While I cut my barista teeth on the LP, I find myself using the Achille on a daily basis.

I also have a superauto that will make its way to E**ay sometime soon.

Happy New Year.

Gaggia Factory is all I have, and all I plan to use (at least in the near term). I'm still a novice, but have found it relatively easy to generate much tastier espresso on my new machine than on a Breville pump machine with "crema-enhancing" (fizz-generating?) dual walled baskets that I had before.

1. I use a lever only and have no plans to change.
2. I own one lever....it's an Olympia Cremina. I don't feel any need to upgrade.....I love it.
