Hi all,

Here is a "Duchessina" by Ducale. Late 50's. Spring lever. This is a minute version of their bar machine "Duchessa" (compare witht the size of the baby faemina). It looks like a small Faema "president" as well.
The machine could be either plumbed, or filled from top.
No doubts this machine inspired the later modern clones by SAMA, Bezzera, Olympia, Pontevecchio...
Another version with a bare boiler was commercialized under the name of "Lady Duchessa".

Cheers,
F

Hi All,

And this blue one is an "Antares" by Carimali. Mid 50's. Spring lever. Pressurized boiler but neither steam nor water outlets. The home version of their Antares machine line for bars (identical group and distinctive lever).
The group is endowed with a grip handle.
Best,
F

Both very nice, but I really like the Antares! Beautiful machines, as you usually post - thank you!

I'll have to second Richard's "Wow" on the Duchessina; that little sweetie is cuter than the Obamas' puppy. And you can drink the liquids it secretes.

Excellent kitchen-radio form-factor for that 50's spring lever, missionhb. The angle and length of the lever-handle also taking the home kitchen into account. What do you think -- 3+ bars of brew pressure?

Five stars. *****

Hi Timo,
In fact, the spring seems pretty strong and is even quite difficult to compress with such a short lever. Fortunately, the lever has a "cam" and gets blocked in the "compressed spring" position for pre-infusion.
I would say 5-7 bars are probably reached during infusion.
Best,

I've not seen a SAMA club? Lusso? what model is it? So here it is. Next to it is a Presso, a very nice mechanical espresso, it's my beloved outdoor espresso maker. With the same coffee I got better crema than the sama (with the new spring installed), I bought another one for a back up.

I love the micro foam made with this sama.

I apologize if this is a repeat, but I haven't seen this one yet (from the caffeeitalia.co.uk website). . .

Wow, novyan, that machine looks awesome! A Pavoni without a direct connection to the boiler. I have been wondering if a Pavoni lever could be fitted to a Ponte Vecchio Lusso body—I think it's possible!

For a time, Olympia made some machines that were rebranded as Pavoni. This looks to be one of them.

No, its a Pavoni Eurobar. Rare bird. There is a thread about it here
