Leak from Olympia Cremina Pressure Safety Valve

I have rebuilt a 1990 Cremina and have a leak from the Pressure Safety Valve. Looking at Doug's OE video, there is supposed to be a well where the copper crush washer fits in, and the valve screws in on top. My well has an unremovable copper washer, there is no indentation, just the threaded hole and the copper is flat with the rail. I tried using what seems to me to be a crush washer on top but the whole thing hisses releasing steam when it gets hot enough. What do I do?

Marvin, I had to install the very same copper crush washer.
Do you have the newer style that OE sells?
I had to get in with a dental tool and pry the other one out.
I wish I could remember exactly what I did, but I just remember following Doug's instructions.

Hi Marvin, you must remove that old washer or the new one will not seal. Use a narrow, screwdriver, and a hammer to gouge it out - from the outside edge toward the hole, deform it, then pry it out.

You and Doug taught me WELL, apparently.
Marvin, it will come out, and the rest will be easier. I actually found having an extra pair of hands to hold the other side of the machine helped. That's why wives were invented.
Sorry Barb.
