La Peppina and Zinc Poisoning

Zinc Poisoning

There was some discussion earlier that the Zamak material (mostly zinc) that La Peppina is made of could leach into the espresso and result in toxicity. I personally dislike Zamak and was somewhat concerned.

This isn't a scientific comment, but a rough data point: After using La Peppina for more than 8 months on a frequent basis (5-10 X per week), my blood levels of zinc fall squarely in the "normal" range.

I don't know what they were before, however. Maybe they were low and I'm getting a supplement. I'll test again in a year and see if there is any change. In the meantime, for me, at least, I am not getting zinc poisoning or even close to it with frequent use.

I don't know how about this zamac really. I was to post the photo of mine but yet didn't - sorry - will get to this shortly. For I think on mine the zamac is not exposed to water directly.
