La Pavoni OE gauge adapter fitting information?

Postby RayJohns on Fri Mar 25, 2011 4:42 am

Does anyone know the difference between these two parts at OE:

http://www.orphanespresso.com/La-Pavoni..._2657.html
http://www.orphanespresso.com/La-Pavoni..._2658.html

Item 1832 comes in brass for $25

Item 1833 comes in brass or chrome for $22 or $15 respectively.

The website doesn't make it clear what the difference is, nor what the thread sizes are.

I've contacted Doug via PM (here) but so far have not heard back. Does anyone here happen to know the difference and/or the specs? My machine has a M12x1.00mm hole where the gauge should go, but I believe La Pavoni also used an 11mm size adapter on some machines.

My machine is a Europiccola Pre-millenium machine from around the 1980's as far as I know.

I'd also like to know the thread pitch / size on the female end (where the gauge goes), so I can order up an adapter to go into that end.

Any information would be most appreciated. Thanks!

The first one you linked to is the Pavoni Pro fitting, and it will fit the very earliest of Pavoni, and modern Pro machines. It is a factory, current production part. If your machine is from the 1980's, then you need the Type I adapter. The Type II adapter is for the modern models, with plastic sight glass covers. I have no problem exchanging if you purchase the wrong one. The gauge thread, for factory produced, will be BPP (their gauges are also BPP). On our adapters, the Type I or Type II are for 1/8 NPT generic gauges (and with enough teflon tape a BPP gauge will fit too).

Hi Doug,

Thanks for the information, but I'm still not clear on the specs of the two parts referenced above. Here are the descriptions provided via your website:

Item # 1832: "Brass OEM La Pavoni PRO gauge fitting. This fitting can be used on the VINTAGE pre 1996 Europiccola as a gauge adaptor fitting as well as on the modern PRO model for the gauge."

Item #1833: "This is the gauge adaptor fitting for the modern PRO gauge. Also will fit the vintage pre 1996 Europiccola models as a gauge adaptor fitting. Choose Chrome, or Brass."

Would it be possible to simply provide the specs for both of those parts - as far as the male and female threads go? What I need is M12x1.00 on the male side (which goes into the La Pavoni) and 1/8 NPT (ideally) on the female side. British pipe threads on the female side would also work, if that's the only configuration you have.

I do see on your site that you also sell some taller adapters, but those will not work for my application. The specifications for part # 1832 & 1833 would be most helpful (so that I can place my order).

Thanks!

If you go to this thread - Install a PID on my Vibiemme Junior DB? - page 8, you will see a drawing of some brass adaptors I happen to have. You can send me a regular email - erics at erols dot com should you desire more info.

And here I thought M12 x 1 was a rare bird. :)

Here are a couple of others that look interesting/possible (maybe with a little machining, etc.)

Really what I need is something which is M12x1.0 pitch - like a banjo bolt, but with 1/8 NPT on the top. This will allow me to use a banjo / barb fitting (for supplying pressure into the boiler) and then screw a gauge down onto the top.

Man.. knew I should have bought that Lathe and CNC mill last month! :-)
