La Pavoni Europiccola heating element broken??

Postby oliverkuehberger on Tue Dec 27, 2011 1:29 pm

Hi guys - merry christmas.

I have my Pavoni on a time so it is on when i come down in the morning.

Now unfortunately this morning all the water in the tank had evaporated and the tank was complete empty. The light on the switch was still on but it is not heating the water anymore.

Any opinions guesses etc, how to fix this - or how to proceed from here would be greatly appreciated!!!!

See La Pavoni Europiccola dry-boiled for suggestions:

Unplug the power wires off the spades on the heating element, then put the meter test probes on it. If you get infinite ohm's you have an open circuit (blown heater) if you get resistance then the element is most likely good but given what happened I would just jump right to purchasing a new heater element.

It's too bad you had it on a timer. A Europiccola heats so fast there's no need for that. By the time you brush your teeth and put your clothes on, they're good to go. My dual switch pre-Millennium Europiccola is ready to pull a shot in about 5 minutes. My Millennium Europiccola is ready to pull a shot in 13 minutes.

Hi guys, afar having sat there for a while I finally got around to look at the base of my Pavoni. I had posted in another link, it had dry burned for a couple of hours without me noticing. I have power (i.e. the green switch lights when i turn on the machine but it is not heating up. I looked up heating elements on Stefano's but my heating element seems to look different than the ones for sale. I have included a picture of the base. Anyone has any idea?

Thanks

I just looked at Stefano's site, and his 2-prong element looks just like yours, except the resettable thermo switch and its wiring aren't present. It is the correct one for your machine unless you are using it in Europe or somewhere else where wall outlet voltage is 230 volts.
Since his website shows it out of stock, you could try http://www.shop.partsguru.com/product.s...ductId=175, or go directly to EG&H, the importer at 800-927-0277, they are in Mt.Vernon NY.

Thanks!

Does anyone have a step by step how to disassemble the heating element. I undid the three screws that is holding it in but nothing moves so I am sure I am missing something. No need to break more that I already have!

Once the three screws are removed, you should be able to gently pry the heating element loose from the boiler, as all that is holding it in is the adhesion of the gasket. The 2 links below should be helpful:
