On the left is the double basket provided with a 2009 Cremina, approximately 21 mm in height. On the right is a double Elektra basket purchased from OE a year or so ago, approximately 25 mm in height.

Depending on coffee I can put even 17 grams in Elektra double. BUT some coffees max out at 15 grams so you might be using that type of coffee...

Yep, me, too! I normally run 15.5 grams in my Elektra unless I'm experimenting. And like Dennis, I can get 17 grams in if I want...more actually.

Just measured my Elektra basket and it is only 21mm. Sent an email to OE about it. Think a Cremina basket was sent by mistake.

Just a note on this basket discussion.....we pulled out all of our brand new from Olympia Express uber pricey baskets, an Elektra double, a used Cremina basket (1976 manufacture), and a La Pavoni pre millenium.

The picture seems to get a bit murkier here, especially the variation in the new Cremina direct from Olympia Express baskets....one is the same height as a La Pavoni but the rim of the La Pavoni is a bit higher and wider. I am not drawing any conclusions here, but if you mixed these up you would have a hard time sorting them back out. Hmmmmm...
