I don't really understand that ad. Who's gonna buy $50K worth of machines sight unseen?

Some very pretty lever machines in there. Might be kind of fun to buy the lot, shine up the machines real nice, then sell them off, one at a time, over the next couple years. I mean, if you haven't got anything better to do with that $50k you have lying around the house.

On the other hand, if you dig deep in the couch cushions and scrape up $100k, you could have this lot instead.

Check the seller.... somebody in Texas has more nice machine than the law allows!!! That said from a displaced Texan!!

Dominic invited me to come see his store a couple months ago; just haven't gotten around to it yet. It's only 30 min. from my office so I'll make a serious attempt to visit him next week. Then I'll report back what I see. Don't reserve that truck yet!

Personally, I'm an espresso drinker, not an antique collector (although I truly appreciate those machines). With $50K, however, and probably for lot less, we could do a group design of our own, send it off to a manufacturer in Italy (or here in the US - what a novel idea) and produce our own HB lever. I mean its basically just a copper, brass, or SS pot (with or without a tight-fitting lid), a 1000-w heat element from an elecrtic range, and a ~50-mm diameter piston (don't forget the spring!). I keep waiting for someone on this side of the Atlantic to make a quality espresso machine.
