Heart breaking story - neglected Europiccola - Page 2

How long had the machine been on when steam started coming out of the group? Pavoni's are notorious for overheating. I can only get 2-3 shots out of mine before I have to call it quits. If the water is flash-boiling as soon as the machine gets up to temperature after turning in on, however, an adjustment to the pressurestat might be in order. It's a fairly simple thing to adjust.

A concentration of commercial backflush chemical and hot water would probably be able to get the milk stains off of the steam wand. You can get the chemical (Puro Caff is my favorite) from Espresso Parts or Stefano's.

Hi Romanleal, I just opened the Pavoni and adjusted the P-stat to it's lowest setting, it's still flash boiling as soon as it gets up to temperature, but it's not as bad as before. I'll try turning the screw more tomorrow (I'm exhausted) and report back, I'll also measure next time I turn it on.

Does anybody have any tips to a jealous machine? My Oscar has been very kind to me but since I haven't
turned it on in two days (Woking on the Europiccola) today the filter basket decided to stick to the dispersion screen! Took some difficult finger work to get it out, anybody know any good HX-shrinks?

Cheers.

Let me start by saying: Ouch.
Last night in the process of making one shot I got electrocuted (220v = OUCH), burned several times and sprayed coffee at. Oscar was gloating.

I can't turn the P-stat any further but it's still flash boiling and the coffee tastes nice but a bit off, sour and watery (It could be my bad technique, the grind setting and\or the fact that I'm using the throw-away tamper). How can I lower the temperature more?

Thank you,
Ben

P.S: The P-stat wasn't glued to place, so I'm thinking it was played with before, don't know if it means anything.
