Has Anyone Converted a 220v Caravel into a 110v? - Page 2

perfecto!

however replacing the element will be something that Caravel owners may need to consider at some time. I have already had a few emails from people looking for replacement elements, and I bought one machine with a dead element.

Another option is a submersible heater used for teapots, that can be dropped into the kettle, or for the more ambitious, more permanently affixed.

The long-term solution, of course, is for someone to design and market a new open-boiler machine with some of great features of the Caravel. If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll eventually look into having a local designer help me with this.

Like I said, it is that Swedish CAN DO attitude all over again! You've got Ikea, Volvo and soon, the Peacecupper Espresso Machine! Sounds like a truly good idea.

Hey Peacecup, I have a question. What size tamper do you use on your Sama Export? I ordered a 49mm off fleabay and it kinda works but not really. I don't have my digital caliper with me so I 'm not sure of the portafilter size.

Thanks in advance.

Hello there,

I have a Sama as well- and I used a pavoni tamper- but I had to get out some sand paper and grind it down at the edges a little to make it fit snugly.

Kind of late here, but I'm curious, Cheri. Is your Sama an old Lusso model with the Rossi (like Elektra) group that uses 49mm baskets? 'Cause I thought the Exports and late Lussos were all 45mm...

Marcio,

I think it's a 45mm. I have to order a 44mm tamper from OE once I hear back from them.
Anyway, here's a photo of the Sama.

Cool machine, Dampa/Sama Export!!!

I think the 45mm tamper from OE will fit. I think they are back, you should place an order.
