Gaggia group assembly question

Postby Paul on Sat Oct 27, 2007 8:55 pm

hi all,

On my first rebuild of an old gaggia gr I have run into a little trouble. I can't get the fella to stop leaking with the lever in the upright position. If anyone has rebuilt one of these before, could you please have a look at my pics below and tell me if there is something obvious I am doing wrong?

All seals and spacers are new. I had guessed that the lower two were not compressing enough so I tried a third with no luck.

what am I doing wrong?
cheers

hello paul
it misses a lip seal in bottom of the piston... the tightening of the large screw it is only for the guide of the piston.

hello Paul
it lip seal downwards places in end of the unit the lip for step which the coffee goes up at the time of the extraction even in this direction it prevents water from leaving has the stopping of the piston.

to follow up, I placed another lip seal in the lower position and the leak was stopped. Interestingly, I note that not all parts catalogues are consistent in their exploded layout group diagrams (ie oemmici has bits in a different order than nuova ricambi).
cheers
