Fiorenzato group same as Astoria?

Postby beanflying on Tue Feb 01, 2011 7:39 pm

Hi Lever nuts,

I just picked up a secondhand Fiorenzato Piazza San Marco 1 group and was wanting to chase up a local source of spares for it. Anyone out there with first hand knowledge of if it is the same group as the Astoria or not? Looking at this http://www.coffeeparts.com/astoria/astoria-spare-parts-3.html it is very close in body and valve styling. http://www.fiorenzatocs.com/english/scheda_piazza1g.html

thanks.

No, Astoria uses the Rossi group and has ball bearings on rollers. The Fiorenzato group uses a different setup.

Possibly a different top cam assembly but the main body and rear valve looks the same at least on the exploded view? I did see 1st line carrying parts in the US if I am desperate.

If by spares you are concerned mostly about the group seals and other rubber parts likely the best bet is to look up inside the group and see if there is a removable liner like on the Astoria group. It seems that Fiorenzato might part with either the parts or the information. Having so far dealt with Faema, Conti, and Gaggia groups, Astoria parts are used in none of them so the universal nature of the CMA group seals may be overestimated.

Yes just the rubber bits for a future rebuild to save a rush later. Unless I get some more info I will pull the group down for a look see and see how it compares to the Astoria (will add pics)

Side note just took delivery of a new Pullman Tamper to suit it and a couple of Syneeso baskets to suit and the nominal double it came fitted with is a dead ringer for the Synesso 18g triple. Same hole pattern/shape/size. PF handle will fit the triple as standard.
