Faemina elements - are they replaceable?

I have sadly cooked the 'max' element to my faemina by letting it run dry for perhaps around ten minutes or so. I am unable to test the min element as I have not had it working since I have had it although I think it may be a case of getting her properly rewired. This will be my first step. However since there is a small chip that appears to have broken off the max element I will at the very least also need to look into repairing that.

So I guess what I am asking is can a new element to suit a faemina be fabricated?

Although I have seen the exploded diagram of the faemina it does seem to be a pretty sturdily built unit and I can't imagine that removing the element will be that simple.

If anyone can add any input I would love to hear it. It is day four now without my extraction routine and I feel like I am hovering in limbo.

Replaceable yes....pretty easy to remove as they bolt in with a jam nut and seal with an o-ring of fibre washer. 220v elements available at Nuova Ricambi - Italy http://www.nuovaricambi.it/caffemarca-d ... 20MACHINES

No 110v elements available, but then as you are running on 220v, seems a stroke of geographical if not electrical luck.

hi pete,

a tip, find the part # from nuova ricambi then ask dom lara to import for you: www.coffeeparts.com.au Most of what he sells comes from NR and i'm sure he'd help you out. Otherwise you'll be buying a lot of parts to meet the NR minimum order.
cheers

Hi Paul,

Thank you. I know of the guys at coffee parts so will get in touch with them tomorrow.

I have removed the bottom cover to the boiler and have unscrewed both elements. As Doug said it is all pretty straight forward and it is the perfect opportunity to give some surfaces what looks like their first clean for the last 50 or so years.
The fibre o rings perished when I removed them but I assume they will be easy enough to source.

Thanks again and I will write with my progress.

A quick note to thank those who offered advice for my predicament. I ended up going directly through the nuova ricambi website and was contacted by Ash from http://www.espressoworkshop.com in Sydney who sorted it all out for me. I can recommend these guys.

cheers
