Faemina basket question

Postby mondovino on Thu Nov 17, 2011 9:44 pm

My Faemina is home from the OE rebuild and I am getting ready to start learning to use it. I got three baskets from my father; one single and two doubles. One double is kind of odd and I'd like to know if anyone can tell me about it. Here are some pictures.

I'm probably wrong but is that not a pressurised basket?

I would agree that this looks like a pressurized basket, and I don't know why it would be used. Did Faema really introduce a pressurized basket way back then? I am certain that this basket came with the machine when it was puchased in Munich in 1959, along with the normal single and double baskets.
This is the ONLY basket that my dad used out of the three, and it appeared that he never took it apart and cleaned it. Hmmm. I guess that he wasn't tuned in to the taste of his brewings, nor must he have been aware of the capability of his machine.
