Elektra portafilter handle size?

Postby espressme on Thu Jun 12, 2008 11:17 pm

Hey folks,
Does the lever or portafilter handle on the 49mm Elektra MCal fit the 12x1.75 shank on the NEWD Bottomless portafilter? I have a person asking and I really don't know the answer. And..I can't afford one to find out! :(
Thanks!
Richard
PS, If it does, they will also fit the Cremina with the original style Bakelite grip!!

Richard, NEWD 49mm that you built (the 1st group buy) has a stud that is larger than the stock unit.
I think the handle I purchased for the NEWD is a La Pavoni.

For the person asking. Consider having Richard if he is willing build a custom handle. Every photo posted on this site of his custom levers and portafilter handles look very nice.

Thanks for the information everyone. The handles are really nice, but I just got the machine so I think I will wait before any customizing. I was able to get one of the, (if not the) last Mcal 1st line had with the yellow case, extra dome, and glass ball. I paid less for the whole kit than the new prices for the unit so I think I did well.

I also wanted to point out that I asked Richard/espressme about this via email, when I asked about purchasing one of the PFs he is making. He took the time to ask on here (which I should have done), then emailed me back and let me know it wouldn't fit, and asked me if I still wanted to buy it. I have to say very good business practices/ethics. It really makes me feel good about buying from him. Thanks!

No, I just confirmed they are not compatible. The Microcasa's threading is much smaller than the "newd" (looks like 6mm or 8mm).
