Elektra Microcasa a Leva portafilter old and new differences

Postby Bob_M on Fri Dec 14, 2007 4:14 pm

i have a 1983 elektra mcal...the portafilter does not have a groove for a basket clip and i wanted a bottomless one so i bought a new one and had bottom cut out...now to my dismay i find that it doesn't fit into the grouphead...it seems to be just a tad too tall and the little protrusions ( i'm almost certain they have a name) seem to be just a tad wider...yeah i know i should have checked b4 i modified it but i didn't...i have a machinist friend who can mill it down but i wonder if i will then find some other reason it won't work...does anyone have experience with this problem i have ? i would appreciate your comments, thank you

protrusions are called "cleats." Otherwise, no idea.

hi i just wanted to follow up on my portafilter challenge... i had a machinist mill down the top of filter to match my old one and he did same thing with the cleats... he said it was easy and it works fine...same as the original
