Does Olympia Club require plumbing in?

Postby mankini on Mon Jan 31, 2011 11:29 am

Hello...
I have been offered an old olympia club which requires plumbing in.
Do these machines not have a tank reservoir like a cremina?
Is there a way to use such a machine without plumbing it in or is this just overcomplicating things?
The wife wants a more mobile piece of equipment in the kitchen rather than a permanent fixture.
Thanks
mankini

Unless your seller has modified it, the Club has a steam boiler that can be filled manually, just like the Cremina. Searching Google images with "olympia club espresso machine" found this photo set on flickr that makes this clearer.

There is a direct water connection on the Club's boiler, but you can also fill it manually on the top of the boiler.

Indeed, you can see the connection in this photo, highlighted below:

Like the model pictured above, the water connection for my friend's Club was capped off. Thanks for the correction.
