Hello Gents,

Been a while since I logged in here but could do with some advice. My Cremina's grouphead is displaying signs of needing a brass fill-in and re-drill for the main pin and roller, much as Mogo's refurbed machines did all those years ago. Anyone got a schematic or any tips about getting this done. There was talk of using a sacrificial roller at one point to give the grouphead some more longevity, and at one stage someone was holding a rolling swap of refurbs for old + costs- any of this still going on?
Keep on pulling
and thanks in advance

Welcome back, Sneaky!
I am not aware of any persons doing that refurb at this time but you might give Orphan Espresso a shout.
HERE
Cheers

Hello Sneaky--Have you made contact with Peacecup since he has gone to that side of the water?

You also might contact Will at Home Espresso Repair and see if he has an old group head to sell or exchange...

EDIT:Thanks for waking me up!!

He contacted me with a lovely DeVe! I still owe him the costs of the Royal Mail I think. Otherwise we haven't seen much of sneaky (or mogo) for a while. Just a few of us old-time leverheads left to support new Pavoni owners!

I will say that the Caravel is still quite alive and very much kicking, and if I ever get back to my desk (doing a lot of field surveys now) I'm looking forward to a real old-fashioned open-boiler espresso. I did come across a Gaggia Mini that I couldn't resist, but I've only pulled a couple dozen singles so far. I really like it.

course none of this has to do with Cremina groupheads, but I hope you have a speedy repair - don't you still have a few back-up levers in case of Cremina downtime?

Jack - I am around- it is just that I have so little to add - the forum always has new blood adding to it's wealth of knowledge-- I am at peace with my Cremina and find it fun to read others fun travels with their levers!

I hope all is well with you and yours...one day I will make it through all the Sherlock Holmes stories!!

Greg....back to YOU, for being so helpful to me back when.
Ma ma ma MYYYYYYYYYYY Cremina is chuggin' along fine. My Penney nekkid PF and tamper enrich the experience (thanks to your info regarding Richard "espressme")
So I say you're ENTITLED to kick back and relax like the potentate you undoubtedly are. At least in your own household.

Hey Greg, so happy to have shaken you out of your semi-retirement - this is beginning to feel like a class of 06 re-union! Are you still in Portland? Everytime I hear of it I keep thinking it sounds like the ideal place to live (wine, nuts, trees, beer, coffee and vanilla bikes - what more could you ask?). I bet the grass is even greener than here.

And boy oh boy Jack you do have a good memory! Without wishing to annoy anyone, yes I do have a replacement grouphead but it also needs a little work so I was planning on decommissioning the swissmiss for a while and testing a repair on the old one before I get the newer one done. If the rolling refurb offer had still been on the go I'd have contributed, as I'd rather go via someone who new what they were doing than try to replicate the repair over here.
Been waiting for thr funds to be available but in the meantime I've managed to get a millenium Pavoni head into the same state so I probably need to re-think my lever arm pressure!

My own absence? - Straitened circumstances (and the collapse of the £) meant that hanging out here (where I happily led myself to believe that owning 6 machines and 4 grinders was normal) was getting to be a tad expensive! Not to mention that I was actually sitting waiting for responses to other people's posts and developing vitamin d deficiency. Hence the cold turkey.

Hope to be able to control myself this time round and thanks for all the advice,
P

Well no matter what caused the absence, the return is welcome Sneeky.

Good to see old ones home.
