Cimbali Micro-need suggestions for stuck piston

Postby Tom@Steve'sEspresso on Sun Dec 12, 2010 11:50 am

Any ideas as to getting the piston out out of this machine? I've unbolted the 3 acorn nuts, and the piston travels freely within its grouphead, but I can't get neither the piston out the top, nor the grouphead out the bottom. I've done 2 rounds of descaling in Kay noncorrosive delimer so far with decent results. And I also removed the showerscreen. I was following Doug's instructional on his site. This machine is waay differently engineered the the others.

Thanks for the help.

Too late since you've gotten it out! But, for future reference (just did this) take a wooden mallet, and whack the top housing sideways (once you've take off the bolts), then start working in a series of increasingly thick wedges & pump it out...just walk it, or 'pump' it up & out. Too late now... Your next challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to get the cylinder out. Use a big wooden dowel, tap tap tap tap tap until you get a sense that it has broken free, then just evenly tap it out.

Good luck - they can be really frustrating machines!
