Caravel seal keeps breaking

Postby newmanium on Wed Oct 13, 2010 12:57 pm

Anybody else have problems with their OE replacement seal keep breaking as shown in the pic? It appears it's where it rubs against the center water hole going from reservoir to chamber. Each one is lasting for about 2-3 months, eventually tears as shown. I've felt around that spot and there doesn't seem to be any unusually sharp edges or burrs, it seems like it's happening just from the repeated rubbing against one of the holes, perhaps one of them is slightly out of tolerance?

Just curious if anybody else is running into this, or if I'm doing something wrong - thanks!

I have not noticed this problem. Are you keeping water in the kettle at all times, and making sure not to operate the lever without water in the chamber?

Always keep water in the reservoir - I do a slight pump/jostle action at the top of the pull to get rid of any air bubbles, maybe that's causing some extra friction?
