Brunella knock box

Postby grada on Fri Jan 15, 2010 9:43 am

Hello readers

A few months ago I bought a Brunella. The knock box is missing. Is there somebody out there who knows where I can buy one?

Thank you, Grada

You won't find the original knockbox. The Douwe Egberts stores stock the Grindenstein for 20euro. And of course the zillion internet businesses. Or you wait until Mr. and Mrs. Garrott think they can make a knockbox more suited to small pfs (wishful speculation).

I think that is a capital idea, to make little aluminum knockboxes for the 7 Brunellas currently in use worldwide....talk about economy of scale!! Seriously, the Brunella knockbox is identical to the Olympia Cremina....round with a small bar. Brunella is aluminum and I think current Olympia is stainless and the old ones were brown plastic, but the design is the same. Of course, the Brunella knockbox came with a little paper insert with the Bruni guy drinking a cup of coffee, which would be easy to come up with for that special touch.

I ain't saying you should recreate the Brunella knockbox, just that there are no knockboxes currently in production that are designed for small PFs and pucks. Most of them are huge and look like they are made for huge hammerswings from 58mm Mjölnirs. I made my own knockbox because of those reasons. It's not a work of art, but it doesn't draw attention, is small, emptying is a matter of turning it upside down and it's got a lid if i want to hide the brown muck inside.
Also, if such a knockbox was going to be produced, it would most certainly come from orphanespresso.
