Thanks. I opened the group. It was easy once the conduit for the microswitch wiring was loosened. There is enough play in the wire that the piston can be laid on top of the machine without undoing the microswitch wiring

BTW, the piston in my group had a ton of grease on it, and slid easily. I'm guessing someone simply forgot to grease the piston on Alf's machine :cry:

Wow, new gaskets for the piston? If you take the lever apart would you mind taking some snapshots as you tear it down, swap gaskets, reassemble? Visual reference is a huge help for me!

Where did you order those?

OK. I have been waffling about the needs to break her down and check this out, that is a good argument to take a look. Did you get the new seals on the dealer or Bezzera's dime?

If the squeak continues even after you put new piston seals / lubricant on the piston you might want to start looking at the alignment of the lever assembly. Misalignment is a very common cause of a chronically squeaky lever group.
