I don't like the pump sounding, even if it's 5-10 seconds... I hope the plumb-in version appears. But it should be easy to plumb-in even this pump version...

The vibe pump noise is certainly a less than welcome intrusion on the process. Of course, it's still a heck of a lot quieter than a grinder (other than a hand grinder), but any added noise is a negative regardless of when it comes into the home.

Have to come up with a quiet manual foot pump for it.

I would love to see a parts diagram of this machine to understand why it needs a pump for pre-infusion. I'm having a hard time visualizing the layout from the internal photos at the German link. The Bezzera site indicates the plumbed-in version also has a vibe pump. Casabarista has a lot of information on the machine here. They say the plumbed-in version has no pump, but they also say the pump is not used for brewing in tank version, so I'm not sure how accurate their information is.
The vibe pump pre-infusion kind of ruins it for me. I am interested to know whether the plumbed-in version also uses a pump. I would happily pay $1800 for this type of machine, and Bezzera deserves every penny for catering to the whims of home espresso nerds like us.
Anyone want a B2006AL (seriously)?

After sorting through the google translated posts on the Euro sites it seems that this may be as they put it a hybrid machine...pump extraction OR lever, meaning no actual passive pre infusion. I think that we all want this to be a good machine but so far there is a lot of confusion.

Looking at the video and pictures I understand that there is a HX and so the need for a pump to push water to the group (probably the OPV is adjusted to 2-3 bar). With water line pressure it could work too, I don't understand why they would keep the pump.

I am pretty sure that's not the case. The pump does the same duty as line pressure does in any other HX lever machine.orphanespresso wrote:After sorting through the google translated posts on the Euro sites it seems that this may be as they put it a hybrid machine...pump extraction OR lever, meaning no actual passive pre infusion. This is what I assume, too. Everything I've read seems to indicate the pump is for filling the boiler and filling the piston chamber during pre-infusion. I don't know why the plumbed-in version would need a pump, though.Carneiro wrote:Looking at the video and pictures I understand that there is a HX and so the need for a pump to push water to the group (probably the OPV is adjusted to 2-3 bar). hi all,
I think you are misreading a bad Italian translation of the manual. To my read there is two version available of the Strega one has a Pump and Tank fitted (version S) and the other is built for being plumbed in and has no pump (version R).
Pumps on these machines are just used for boiler fill, pre infusion is done by boiler pressure which is lower than line pressure. The machines without a pump as standard just use a solenoid back through a standard boiler fill arrangement.

The only thing to be torn about is how much $$$ you want to part with. The Ellisse isn't cheap and is probably twice as much as the Strega.galumay wrote:or me, I was torn between the Izzo Pompeii, Bezzera Ellisse Lever & Bezzera 2006AL - now I have to factor in the Strega
