... yeah, but you could do any of those things, presumably for much less, once it has been released retail! Seems to me that the only reason one would want to enter into the auction is to have a collector's item, whether it is used or not.

free to believe what you want, but i really think this is the only occasion to acquire a great machine....you had also to consider that, maybe in 20 years, you can sell that machine for double or triple price which you pay now....or not? But in this 20 years you surely will make great italian espresso and cappuccino

Internato, this is blatant given the previous thread. I challenge you to pull your finger out of the your proverbial and broaden everybody's lever knowledge with your experience, your preferred beans, roast profiles, techniques. Anything in fact to suggest that Dan should not follow the same route that other forums appear to have done.

First of all, here in Italy Espresso is easiest to find in Bars and or just making it with domestic "moka", if you know what it is...That is the reason why, here in Italy, espresso "lever" machines aren't so successful and so used like USA, Australia...and other countries.
As like as it's a tradition for you to making coffee with all models of lever machines, it's a tradition for us to have a great espresso in our favourite Coffee, Pub, Bar every morning before beginning job.
So we usually don't have grinders, roasters in our kitchens and we don't buy beans, but we use our fantastic roasted coffee (Lavazza, Hag.....to say some brands..) to do our fantastic espresso with moka or, eventually, automatic machines.
But, being born and living in Italy, we know, or maybe, somebody know about historical brand which we are so proud....and like Ferrari, Armani, Dolce&Gabbana, we are so proud of be the native country of espresso machines...being in "Lever Espresso Machines" Forum, you already know that the first lever machine ever was produced by La Pavoni, that designers like Gio Ponti designed the shape for a La Pavoni machines. This isn't enough to say that La Pavoni are the historical and most important brand in espresso machines?
In this forum too LaPavoni machines are subject of a lot of topics..or not?
So....i just would notice you news about the new LaPavoni machine...Paul, you had an Europiccola.......you would change it for another model of another brand? I don't believe this, and judging your expertise about espresso making, i think that having an Europiccola or Professional model is the best way to have the best espresso coffee.

Internato's posts seem to lack facts, references, data or statistics to back up his/her claims regarding the Pavoni. There also seems to be a general lack of basic understanding regarding coffee. These two combined means that the comments have zero credibility (at least in my eyes).

I originally posted quite a long rant regarding this, but this short comment is the edited version. Suffice to say that I had a bit of a bad day yesterday and my original rant was a bit out of line...
