Ahhh, that fabled Na-Kid Cremina portafilter...

Postby mogogear on Thu Nov 29, 2007 10:13 pm

I know some of you got to experience the real thing during testing. As one who just received mine today.... What a nice shot. Many owners of HX machines with Naked PF already know what I saw today- That a shot drawing straight into your cup has Crema with fortitude! Much more ropey and determined!

I have drawn 4 doppios today - all centered nicely and stripedy! It fits like a NEW stock filter would have fit on the first days of its life. Nice and firm at 5 o'clock. I am afraid my stock PF will just languish in the cabinet now..

Thanks Ricardo- for you drawings, procurement of input, shipping the prototype around, finding the machine shop and collecting funds, boxing and delivering such a nice dream, now embodied on my counter.

Mogo,

I'm only giving you a 95/100 for that post, since it sounded so good but you didn't post a photo.

I got a $5 hacksaw at Home Despot recently - your description is forcing me to seriously consider doing damage the stock PF from my Ponte Vecchio. Just this PM I pulled a great Cafe D'arte Firenze, but when I removed the basket from the PF afterwards I noticed a layer of beautiful crema inside. I thought...damn that should have been in my cup.

Thanks Greg,
Nice photos. Great handle
That is the first trial off the CNC machines. We hope to fabricate and polish the rest of them next week ! Dec 2>
With a bit of good fortune, they will ship the week of Dec.10.
Thanks to all that have replied and those who will!
I'm glad you got the camera fixed! :)
sincerely

Richard, is that your handiwork. The metalwork looks really beautiful.

Mogo, just wait until Saturday AM and get your kid to take the photo!

Actually, video is a lot easier, because you set it up before the shot, start it, then just turn it off when you're done. Windows mediamaker and google video, and you're uploaded and dangerous.

Greg, where did you find those handles? Are they ebony or bakelite? They match up real nice with the Newd brass portafilter. Richard, very nice final product. Eagerly waiting. Feel like a 5y/o waiting for Christmas.

Thanks Narc-\
The handles are my thoughts - directed at Richard- and Wa LA! African ebony wood handles- I have a complete set on the Cremina- a tamper, a steam knob to match the boiler knob and a bean spoon with the same handle..I was always a fan of those old Gaggia bubble handles.
