I just made my first shot with the new PF and basket. It worked like a charm. I wish I had a camera on it. The flow was picture perfect. I did have to reduce the amount of coffee I used. I normally use 17 grams in the other basket. This one took 15 and was as full as I wanted it.
Anyway, I thank everyone for their input.

Final note: Having had consistent superb shots over the last week I talked to WLL tech support. The person I talked to said that the issue had been discussed at length in their meeting. It may well have been that the shorter basket was an outcome of that meeting. Unfortunately, there was no communication sent with the basket and it arrived nearly a month before the replacement Naked PF.
WLL is a good shop. They have some great people. Lines of communication are not great, but if you stay on them they do make things right.
One other thing, Ken Fox is also very cool. I followed his recipe for consistent espresso shots, measure each dose in a ramkin (15 grams in the Naked PF, 17 in the standard) then put them in the basket and tamp. People can say what they want, but it works first shot, every shot. No further experimentation necessary.
