Dan, I can't tell you how many times my company had a foreign visitor who thought they would simply drive from Pittsburgh (where we were located) to visit their cousin in Boston or Atlanta and return the next day. But it is understandable that many do not grasp the enormity of the US.

I did not realize that the LP was so vast a territory (until I went to the link you provided).

The best. Never saw anybody order an espresso from the replicator though. Probably wouldn't have any crema...

Len, I'll tell you that one thing I was NOT prepared for is the depth of the coffee subject, nor for the the strength of its pull - through addictive web sites like this - to its deepest depths.

The Gilwell Wood Badge is a series of awards for scout leaders who have taken certain recognized courses in scout leadership, and in training leaders. I believe it's an international thing, with training offered in many places around the world - I did mine in Canada. The following is one of the first links up in a quick Google, though I've never seen the site before:

Hmmm. Leaving people to guess at the origins of "Troll". It's AWFULLY tempting to speculate on that one! :D

Hi all,

I am resurrecting this thread because today I noticed someone with a login name which is a title of one of my favourite rock albums, ... that is 'slowhand', and that made me curious about the story behind the login name. Glenn..?

Cheers,
Pawel

At one point in my life, I was a video producer and director creating medical, corporate and finally military video projects. I also still enjoy creating moving images. Thus, the "Picture" portion of my login. Then, for a "Thyme" I did quite a bit of cooking in a banquet kitchen, bakery and finally as a corporate chef. Also, I find thyme to be a most versatile herb and enjoy using it in my culinary creations. Of all the usernames I've had on different sites, this one, "PictureThyme" is by far my favorite and seems most apropos.

I am in SLC, UT and have decided that after years of throwing money at the green mermaid and looking for good coffee shops to replace their now mass-produced espresso, I want to make my own. Since I enjoy cooking for friends, extending my culinary skills to coffee seems a logical step. I've been haunting coffee shops here in SLC and having just spent a week in NY hanging out at Kaffe 1668, Blue Spoon and a couple more, I've begun to understand what I've been missing.

Hi and welcome on the forums! Time spent here and time spent by your espresso machine truly will be rewarding! And btw, I also love thyme very much... almost to the extent to add it to espresso (in a form of a toasted slice of bread sprinkled with thyme for example :D )
