In anticipation of the arrival of my Alex II I ordered a couple of the items recommended:
Bottomless Portafilter Rancilio
Cafelat Tubbi Knock Box
Water Hardness Test Strips
Cafelat Flat Tamping Mats
Cafelat Group Cleaning Brush
Micro Fiber Cloths
Still planning on some porcelain espresso, cappuccino, and latte cups as well as a few more item before I receive my manchina.
I'm still developing my palate for good espresso. I've found it to be elusive; I did get a very good shot at Blue Bottle on Webster St in Oakland last Monday. I was surprised how bad double espresso shots were when ordered at my favorite coffee shop Peets in three different locations. In all fairness they are more focused on production of milk drinks. I've usually ordered large or medium lattes, really shows how much the milk masks the taste. I've been gathering lists of coffee cafes to visit. I'm hoping my house will be my favorite not too long after my Alex II arrives.

You might check out this thread on CoffeeGeek for more ideas for shops in Oakland.
There's a few I've been meaning to try, but I can't get up that way while most shops are still open. There's really only a handful of places I enjoy going for coffee anymore.
